Status Groups

Overview

Status groups let you combine multiple Jira workflow states into a single conceptual stage for reporting.

This is useful when several statuses represent the same part of the lifecycle, such as In Progress, In Review, and Waiting for QA.

What they are used for

• Group statuses into broader reporting stages.
• Create more meaningful workflow summaries.
• Reduce noise caused by many small status transitions.

Typical examples

• Group In Progress and In Review into a single delivery stage.
• Group all “done-like” states into a completed bucket.
• Build process views that match team operating models rather than Jira defaults.

How to use it

1. Open the status groups dialog.
2. Create or edit a group name.
3. Select the Jira statuses to include in that group.
4. Save the grouping and refresh the reporting table.
